The Day The New York Times Told the World About Us — วันที่ The New York Times เขียนถึง PAPAYA
Of all the places to shop in a city of ten million people, the world’s most famous travel column picked a vintage warehouse in Lat Phrao.
A quieter alternative to the weekend market
In February 2018, The New York Times published its “36 Hours in Bangkok” guide — the column travellers actually plan trips around. For shopping, it pointed readers away from the heat and crowds of the weekend market and toward PAPAYA, describing “a soaring air-conditioned warehouse shop packed with a museum-like collection of vintage goods.”
That one sentence captures what we have spent four decades building: a place that feels like a museum, works like a shop, and rewards anyone willing to wander.
What to expect if you follow their advice
Four floors of mid-century furniture, lighting, art, toys and objects collected since 1981 — over 100,000 pieces, everything for sale, entry free. Come with time to spare; the Times readers who find us usually stay far longer than they planned.
